Deciding to decide is one of the most powerful tools that nature has given mankind. The true successful leaders of the world are quick to decide and slow to change their minds.

Indecision is a disease that needs to be eradicated. Failure to make up your mind will cause irreparable damage that can have life-long consequences. Not being able to make a solid decision is right up there with self-doubt as the number one cause for lack of success. This shouldn’t happen. Deciding to decide is a relatively simple concept.

First, get a definite major purpose and create some smaller goals that will lead you to your major one. After figuring out what you want, make all your decisions based on your goals. If a choice you will make takes one further from the goal, don’t do it. If it leads one closer to the goal, than take action right away.

Indecision creates anxiety, depression and leaves the indecisive person in a pool of inertia that’s very hard to break free from. Each time a decision is put off, the problem gets bigger and bigger, like trying to drain the Atlantic Ocean with a teacup.

The way out is by deciding. Make a choice and follow the path. Be slow to change, but don’t be so rigid that you can’t see the forest for the trees. After a decent period of time, if the choice you’ve made isn’t working, go and try something else.

So if your stuck in a rut and aren’t sure where to go, decide to decide and that will set in motion forces to help you along the way. Decisiveness has power in the act itself. When you know what you want and make the decisions that will bring you closer to your goals, life magically falls into place.

Here are the steps to becoming more decisive in your life:

  1. Find your definite purpose
  2. Only make decisions that will lead you closer to your goals
  3. Once a decision is made, be slow to change and quick to act
  4. If a decision doesn’t work out after a period of time, stop and go another way
  5. Rinse and repeat

Follow these five steps and you’ll be a quality decision maker in no time.
